My local Cat dealer just finished installing new Undercarriage and extended the track. Three more grousers and one roller per side . Modified my rock guards. A lot more stable on going up or down hills out here.
That was common some time ago for machines in forestry. It looks nice.
How did they add the length? Did they replace the track frame?
Under the final is where they added length, just under 30". They have been doing this for the Cal fire Dozers and guy's like me.
So it is a D5M XLR now.
Here is the Pic of the track Frame being modified
heh i have the oposite problem in my d5h ... if it was closer we could have swapped trak frames eventually will cut 3 rolers out of mine.
Beautiful machine, its the craps Cal Fire considers them a Type 3 now, I own a 5Mxl as well
Just curious here, why would you ever feel the need to shorten your track frame?
Easy to explain... Its a farm machine, it mostly pulls a heavy disk harrow, and in between trees, slopes and so on ... beeing a LGP model has a very long track frame , does not help in the many turns and manouvers we need. As soon as i have it down for track maintnance at least 50cm will be cut.
Asked and answered, I guess I never considered a dozer as a farm tractor. Thanks
Hehe, not so simple... the dozer does things in the farm that one can't with a farm tractor. But if the dozer is not very manouverable it has its downsides. Like harowing a 35° slope that has trees. Then we have the dozing jobs in the farm...
