I have a d6c 10k power shift. Recently it is hard to shift out of a gear once you’re in that gear 10 seconds or so. Had someone come to work on it and he cleaned the magnetic filter, replaced the oil and filter, and replaced some o rings. After his service, dozer has intermittently lost the left track drive. When it’s not driving you can feel a lack of resistance in the turning clutch handle, almost like it’s got a return spring that’s not pulling or something catching up. Then it will work until some unlucky pull of the left clutch lever when it doesn’t reengage. Still hard to shift out of gear also.
Interesting what do you mean hard to get out of gear. is it hard to move shifter?
Stiff linkage? Disconnect it from the transmission and see how well it moves.
I wonder if it could be trash stuck in the control valve orifices. How "clean" was the mechanic. I have seen some not very clean ones.
Not the cleanest. Which control valve orifices? All of them?
Linkage is free. The shifter is jammed in gear and you have to pull on it very hard to get it out of the gear it’s in. It’s like it has equalizing hydraulic pressure to allow it to freely shift normally but the pressure bleeds off in about 10 seconds. So if you’re in a gear for 20 seconds or more pushing dirt you’re almost bending the linkage to get it to pop out of every gear. You can freely shift between the gears as long as you don’t leave it in one too long
Couple of thoughts, what happens if you shut tractor down while its stuck? Can you put transmission in gear with engine off?
It’s hard to get in gear when not running.
What was in screen and did he cut filters open. also there could be a little valve on the top of the steering booster I don't remember when they quit using it,but it would beat the seat out and cause problems steering on one side. I can't remember ever running into a transmission problem like yours. As far as it hard to get in gear when it's not running is normal with mechanical safety
