I have a '73 model Cat D6C 10K. I consider myself a mediocre mechanic/parts changer. At today's prices, I try to do all my own repairs, if I can. Recently, my machine has been not shifting into 3rd gear. When I move the shift lever to '3' the machine will simply coast to a stop, as if it is in Neutral. I assume that the shift linkage needs to be adjusted. Since I have never done this type of repair, I am asking for any advice anyone cares to offer me on how I can correct this problem.
