I am trying to put back together a throttle lever assembly on a cat d6m. It was taken apart by an past mechanic from the lever to the pedal and left out so i have no idea what is missing or not. But when i bolt it up, it doesnt work. Even looking at it i can tell it would not operate properly. All i see is on the machine end there is a indented slot and thr center hole. And on the lever side, there is the center pin and two dowel rods that dont look like they go to anything. Any help?! Thanks.
You could start by giving us a machine Serial Number (or S/N prefix) to work with ............ there are 10 different S/N prefixes of D6M and each one has at least 2 variations when it comes to the governor & brake control group. This diagram is typical but may not suit your particular machine. Is this the assembly you're looking at..? There's also a fairly detailed assembly procedure once we have a S/N. I guess that would be useful, no..?
Yes that is the diagram. I have the Parts manual but it doesn't show anything on the inside of that cover. The machine s/n is 2RN00344, a 1998 D6M.
Hard to explain but here goes. That notch has a coil spring in it and imparts a flexible drive between the two pieces. Also it's hard for me to see but there should be a protrusion that will hold two more springs that force against two rollers that come against the two pins to lock the control. Hope this helps a bit. This is a infinite roller clutch affair that has been around for quite some time and equally problematic. Everything has to be right for them to work properly, no excess lube no flat spots on rollers or dowels, no wear issues with the outer ring, springs in good condition etc. Here is some info on the older versions, concept is still the same.
