I have a 6r with the c9. Pump and injectors were done with in last 1000 hrs . when it is pushing at a light load at around 2100 rpms you can hear a fluttering in the exuast and and little puffs of black smoke. if you pull eng down in to full load it goes away. if you throw it in neutral at full rpm it goes away. eng has about 10.6 k hrs no service lights are coming on, fuel filter change didn't make any difference seems to have plenty of power. I bought this machine last winter and it has done it ever since, it has gotten worse in last 500 hrs. pump and injectors were done by previous owner. any ideas thanks.
What engine oil are you using and at what frequency are you changing the oil & filter..? Are there any Diagnostic Codes up on it..?
Sounds like a mid load fuel delivery problem. Even at idle and full load, uneven under half load. Later Bob
fluttering d6 i am using cat 15w40 . it was changed at the 300hr mark and replaced with cat oil and has aprox. 100 hrs on oil now. i will check for codes if any and get back to you.
Roger that. If you give me the machine Serial Number prefix I can check to see if there are any updates in the engine management system.
We have a 06 d6r and it does the same thing cat checked and said it has bad injector in it
d6r fluttering are they able to identify which one it is or is it a guessing game ? thanks for your input
With Cat ET diagnostic software the exact injector that's causing the problem can be identified.
