Hello all-I have a 2007 D6t with the c-9 engine-was working fine then suddenly the engine light a exclamation light came on and engine d-rated. After about 2 minutes at idle light went off and back to full power. 2 minutes later same thing d-rated-back to idle light went out. No codes came up but still d-rates steady-what could be going on?
Need a Serial Number for a start. There are about 30 different models to choose from. What colour was the flashing Action Lamp - Amber or Red.?
KJL00473-red lights flashing
#25 in the diagram below I assume.? Was it accompanied by an audible alarm as well.? While the engine is derated does the SERV CODE icon illuminate in the lower window.?
No service code comes on but the 24 light in the picture is on as well as the red exclamation on the upper dashboard-I let it idle for about 2 minutes and the go out
So no SERV CODE icon #31 illuminated even when the engine is derated.? Starting with the key and engine both off, can you check the power-up self-test of the Monitor System as per the following sequence: - All the indicator lights (2) in the upper panel come on briefly. The Action lamp (6) comes on briefly. The auxiliary action lamp (by your right elbow) comes on briefly. All the indicator lights (4) in the lower panel flash briefly. The Action Alarm (buzzer) sounds briefly. After that should be the following: - Gauge indicators (1) indicate in the following sequence: Upward, left, right, current value. The digital display window (3) in the upper panel shows readouts in the following sequence: "888888888888" followed by "0 RPM IN" The digital display window (5) in the lower panel shows readouts in the following sequence: "Deg C", "kPa", "miles", "kilometers", "rpm" and "liters" followed by "X10", followed by the hourglass symbol for the service meter, followed by "888.8.8.8", and finally the current service meter reading.
No service code when it is d-rated-I’ll have to do the power up in the morning as the dozer is out in the bush at the moment-sometimes I have a code for low voltage and alternator not charging-I’m wondering if that could be affecting my Ecm
If you have to go to the machine to check it out then after you've checked all the power-up tests press the Mode Select switch a couple of times (not sure how many) and get the monitor window into Service Mode. It will automatically scroll through every Code that has been recorded in the memory of the Monitor since the last time Codes were erased. Make a note of all the listed Codes and post them here. Remember each Code will be displayed in 2 parts, the first something like 030, 036, 113, then the 2nd something like 623F03 or 096F05. You need to make a note of both parts of each Code for them to make sense.
Ok thanks I will do that
general rule of thumb is the ECMs do need steady in range voltage or they can start acting odd. The ECMs need good power not only for themselves but to be able to power sensors properly. My apprentices ALWAYS get tripped up sooner or later by a power supply issue of that kind and I let it happen so that a couple hours later when they don’t find the cause and want to replace the ECM I go back and show them and it’s a powerful lesson in not ignoring the basics.
Good point. Check condition of fan belt and tensioning system first.
