First D7e has just arrived in new zealand
Where in NZ. ?????? Regards
was delivered yesterday to seay earthmovers based in taupo,we are all keen to see how it performs
Any idea how many pacific pesos it cost ????
unsure of cost but looks like an amazing machine so responsive
cheers mike; be interesting to see how it goes. D7Hs have built up a great reputation for forestry roading in nz. Love the one ive got; a D7H series 2. Certainly perform. Am still not convinced the newer engines are better than the bulletproof 3306 tho ! Mate up my way bought a brand new D7H-2 in 1997; that was 500k then ! Be interesting to hear what the guys in oz and the usa think about how the new 7E compares to the H and R models
yea its quite a sharp looking peice of gear alright interested to see why they have gone away from the hi-track id say itl mainly get used for geothermal pads and farm work,I opperate a 330cl digger for them and am amazed at the fuel the thing can drink!!
looked on internet yesterday at price of them in 0z and they wer up around 700k mark!! we have an R at work that still works every day getting a bit sluggish tho might be due for a new turbo
were are you working mike,i am on broadlands road, kerry
They say the high sprocket design does not realise the full advantage of the system when used in conjunction with a non bogie (rigid) track roller frame so thats why you will see dozers 7 and down coming back to rigid low sprocket design. You will never see D8 and up come back to low sprocket.
hey kerry we r in tram road at the mo doing forest to farm
Very interesting to see CAT back off slightly on it's elevated sprocket concept. That says something for Komatsu and Deere, both of whom never tried to imitate it in the market to my knowledge. Those floppy tracks sure made for some accelerated pin and bushing wear, although I reckon it was good on final drives. In some ways, the R model was in some ways like the M Series graders introduced later, a little over the top. It appears from the CAT website the company will continue to offer the D6 in both versions: oval track (K) and high track (N). Dont let Merv near that spa. You will never get rid of the bugger. LOL Regards

Yeah why not paul. This kerry fella knows jonesy ! Could do with a expedition away. Come and look and smell some nice new shiny paint, kill a few stubbys and talk some bull ! Hell we could talk enough earthmoving to turn the volcanic plateau into the hauraki plains :drinkup
Keep me posted. Can you guys supply the following. Motorised wheelchair Crane lo lift me into 7 E seat. Note book to comminicate lies and bullswool. Lifesavers to save me drowning in spa ,preferably nubil young lass's with poor eyesight,[ I feel better than I look.] Large volumes whiskey ,purely for medicinal perposes. Regards
mike, someone on site today reckons shes done 1400 hours and ex aussie demo with a paint job, have you heard that one, kerry
hey m8 yea I think she done a few hrs unsure of how many tho
i pmd my no to you, working tomorrow and right through easter, got a dispencation from rome, kerry
I would be even more interested to see it at 14000 hrs,and a complete record of costs to run. Regards

Any more news about this new treasure boys ?? You,ve had all weekend to check it out Old Mr Motat won,t need a crane to lift him up into the seat; one of them old battery powered cattle prods, stategically applied to a particular area will have him leap into the seat in a single bound keep the pot stirrin :drinkup
I'm operating a new D7R in Northland, near Dargaville. Delivered in Nov last year, coming up for 750 hr service. Has C9 engine, 260hp, can push like a son of a bitch. Being used in forestry roading and skid formation. Owner didnt want D7E due to reduced ground clearance. D7R's are apparently still available ex Japan for some markets.
sorry merv, just knocked off, worked all easter to catch up due to converter failure and complete track gear on d8 so havnt seen the second hand machine yet, kerry

well you fellas have had another whole week to evaluate her; whats the latest news :beatsme You gone back up to your home turf craig ! Take it she was brand new. Yours ??? or whos ? Didn,t know the later Rs used a C9 thought it was the 3176, but have lost contact on all the updates. Take it shes much improved over the D7H in performance. Cheers boys :drinkup
sorry merv no news,84 hours this week, take it easy, kerry
Hey Kerry, do you know If Its true that there Is an old Euclid ts14 around Taupo somewhere?, as I thought I had seen a photo of one somewhere that was meant to be in Taupo.
there was a older 14 for sale about 12 months ago, dinos earthmoving,i worked with it in tolga bay,not a great machine, kerry.
84hrs Kerry; rain last week never slowed you down then probably just cooled you down ! Slowed us down in my country. All the money your making, you,ll be able to buy another TS14 :drinkup
Merv, not enougth to keep the dust down,I think with the workload, having a tooth extraced would be better than having a scraper, been there done that leave it to the big players, work on contract there is more $ in it.Take it easy,Kerry
I have found out that the particular example I mentioned actually belonged to Greg Lamb ltd, being a 7uot-61sh It was built In the usa between 1964 and 1966, The article where I got the Information from was in a Classic plant and machinery magazine, Have a nice day, Reubs.
Reubs, you could ask George who owns S.I.R.Mechanical,he used to do all the work on Gregs scrapers, good luck,Kerry.
d7e in nz merv, told today that it is going to be full on for next 3 to 4 months then they are going to thin out some of the 7 contractors.at least hopefully it will get me through winter.take it easy, kerry.seays are looking for scraper and dozer operators, kerry
Merv, yes the D7R was brand new. Belongs to Douglas Logging in Dargaville. It has a C9, 260hp, performs better than the 230hp D7R of Tony Elmiger's that I drove in Kaingaroa. Back up in old stamping ground, theyre logging the forests I roaded for when they were planted. How long have you had the D7H for? Are you doing forestry roading up your way?
The High drives have powershift trans and are easier to remove and install. I think the new conventional drives are electric as D7E or Hystat drive. Later Bob
heard d7e is awesome and opperator is realy enjoying it keep you posted
hey mike, they tell me seays might have a 1000 more hectares to clear, all good for you guys, take it easy kerry.
ok fellas and fellessas, whats all the latest in news in D7s etc around I got in a full week last week roading and doing landings; my countrys all clay and I need the big light to shine otherwise I move the proverbial 5/8 of fa. Unlike lucky people in that pumice country where the rain just keeps down the dust Mind you you fellas might get abit of that funny white stuff soon that I never see ! Hi Craig seen your horse in the latest logging magazine; but bet the dozing was abit easier up there without any stumps when you had your D7G ! D7H im on isn,t mine been on it since xmas but have been on it on and off last 3 years in between my own jobs, still got D6s and D4s and do some of the easier work with my 6 plus have a truck on metal cartage and do farm jobs with D4 on weekends ! Good to see you,ve got plenty on Kerry, keep you busy over the winter, Assume your on forest conversion to dairy ? As everything on the volcanic plateau must be 2nd or 3rd rotation by now. Forest block im in at kopu was originally Tasman forestry and is first cut. Was in coroglen before that. Any more news about the new D7E ? Hope she lives up to the reputation of the original D7E; the first Fs where a failure but last of them were ok and Gs too. And I really like this D7H-2 ive got Cheers boys, looks like a wet week for me, might have to go fix some of my own darlings, or if its too wet stay here and talk. :drinkup
Hi Merv,83 hours last week, just got lights put all over D8 so now its 12 machine hours a day.Poured today and still into it you dont have to worry about the air cleaners as much its great.Take it easy,Kerry.PS.Still not sighted D7.
