Hey, I could use some help, my dad just passed away and left me his D8k. This weekend it started not going in and out of gear on a steep hill. I can't find were to check the transmission oil. Help
under the seat there is a loop shaped lever in the front to release the seat to tip forward ours usually needs a bit of pry bar on it Use 30wt drive oil to4 spec doesnt have to be cat brand just meeting that spec
Thank you so much. I am heading that way.
If you are working steep slopes/ hills overfill it at least a gallon. 2 would be better for 8K's and 8H's.
If you're running steep slopes, overfill five gallons. If she broke suction momentarily you got lucky. Usually a loss of oil pressure will send you freewheeling backwards with you trying to push the brakes through the firewall. Sometimes the ride doesn't end well. You might try backing up to the same spot (nose downhill) to see if you still have transmission trouble. If you don't then you probably broke suction momentarily (with nose uphill) and you'll know next time not to get into that situation.
