i am working on an old d8k . having problems with the trans .machine would not move. filter was very dirty so was oil so we took trans apart ,was rebuilt with cat shop manuel so im sure its all put back right . have good pump pressure. p1 port reads 100psi but p2 reads o psi all valves were cleaned but put back the same way they came apart any ideas?

Not sure what d8k you have but i assume it has a powershft. Pump pressure should be minimum 365psi at low idle and 425psi at high idle Speed clutch should be 300 low and 355psi at high Direction clutch should be 55 psi lower than speed clutch. Was the torque and pumps rebuilt?

thanks for the reply lee. it is a power shift. pump pressure is fine, but my boss would not let me remove the torque when i had the trans out.speed clutch is only 100 psi at low idle and maybe 130 at hi idle have no reading at all at the direction clutch test port.

Dont tear it back out just yet!. It sounds to me like you are starting it in gear and tripping the saftey valve spool. Unhook your speed and direction linkages at the transmission control levers and "find neutral". There is a neutral detent on the speed lever, but not the direction lever. The direction lever has 2 detents, one is forward and one reverse. I have seen this problem more than once, especially on machines with cabs. When the cab is set back down, it never sits in the same exact place. when that relationship changes, the transmission linkages have to be readjusted. I hope this makes sense.

When you had the main pressure control valve apart; did you check the floating check valve in there that sends oil to the load piston ? It has a tiny orofice in it that often gets blocked with debris, especially if the filters were blocked. This will cause the problems your having also.

Had D8K not long ago that would not move , had good pump pressure found loose bolts in control valve in top of trans and 2 bad o-rings under valve just an idea even though fresh rebuild
