deere 200c question?

Noticed today that i was leaking hydraulic oil from right below the right hand joystick. Took the screws up and noticed that one of the plungers that gets depressed when you move the stick is slightly leaking oil. It looks like they have o rings at the base of them. Called my local dealer and they suggested replacing the whole block with all four plungers on it. Dirt cheap price of 850 dollars. Is there any way the i could replace just the o rings or get an aftermarket(read cheaper) assembly for it? Any ideas? thanks

You can get the parts to reseal them from the dealer. The only time I've replaced the whole thing is under warranty. I do replace the plungers and seals not just the seals. You might be able to get away with just the seals but by the time you fight the controller out of there you'll want it to last as long as possible.

They do get worn, and if too worn won't hold a seal. I took a gander at a parts page, looks like all the seals and components are available individually. Some dealers want to sell the unit for profit reasons, some will shy away from selling the internal bits because they adhere to the idea that only factory trained techs should mess with complicated little jigsaw puzzles.

While there are only a few seals in them, they are a total PI the *** to replace. The biggest trick if you have never done them is keeping the plungers in place when the spring keeps trying to push them back out. And don`t forget the little pin inside the plunger that want`s to stay down in the bore and yes it does go in one way. It took me a while to figure out a handfull of homemade tools, but I had down to about 45 minutes to do each joystick. Like I said, not hard, but it`s a recipe for disaster if you are not carefull. Talk to someone at your dealer who has done it. Good luck.

and make sure you match them with what came out. 2 have one line around the base and the other 2 have 2 lines.Mix em up and you will have serious controlability issues.
