I'm looking at a machine that has the main boom cylinder hose blown. It looks like you have to pull the whole cylinder to access the hose? The hose is the hose that extends the cylinder or raises the machine, or moves the boom down. It leaks bad if it is under much pressure. It blew when a guy was checking the machine out. The bad place is close to the fitting by the valve stack. Any ideas?
If its the hose that attaches to the cylinder inside the backhoe boom then yes you need to remove the cylinder from inside the boom. If you can find a place to park the machine next to a ditch it will help lower the boom flatter to the ground. Swing the boom all the way to the right and as low as possible. If you rather do it inside then tilt the tractor way over on the left by using your right stabilizer. Block the machine with something substantial and solid so it cannot drop on you. Do not rely on the stabilizer when your working on the machine!!!! Then, with the boom way down on the right side of the machine you can pull the cylinder out. Place a wood plank under the cylinder so you have something to slide it on. I did my 310D a few months ago just like that. Good luck.
