found this lil badboy sitting in someones front yard on my way home from looking at a tree removal job. im tempted to go back and see if they wanna get rid of it.
Good dozers, but looks like a money pit. Looks like somebody snagged the grill and hood and if the track pads are any indication of the overall, U/C health it's shot. Upside is the 4045 is practically indestructible in this application.
Is there anything specific to look at when inspecting the undercarriage?
Well, look at the sprockets. They shouldn't be sharp or chipped at all. The rails can be a little out of round, but the further they are out of round, the less life they have in them. Judging from the track tension, and grouser pads I would guess that they are pretty hammered. Alot of times with these old machines, the cost of a new undercarriage is more than the machine is worth. Not to mention, there very well could be another reason why it was originally parked in that place. Just my .02, CJ
The missing hood tells me it quit running and they tried and failed to fix it. Between that and other signs of wear, I'd call it spare parts and scrap, or an incredible money pit.
JUNK. Scrap it
