Deere 450C clutch issues

GFLANAGAN ยท 2014-07-14 15:04

JD 450C is having issues. The clutch seems to be a two stage clutch. It is very loose when you first step on it then tightens up when it hits the second stage. I guess the first is for the shuttle shift, H,L,N,R. It has always seemed more hydraulic operated and not mechanical. What all will be involved in fixing this problem. Thanks for any help.

At first a bunjee cord pulling back on the clutch pedal would allow it to move forward now its intermittent.

It doesn't get any simpler or more direct than a 450C clutch, here's the parts picture: Sounds like she's worn out. There is an adjuster, #16 there, but it may not help. Basically if I remember correctly you have to pull the engine forward to change the clutch out.

if you change the clutch you need to remember there is a JD adjustment gauge/tool to set the finger height or you will be splitting her in 2 again.

Woof, now there's a flashback! We used to have that gauge hanging on the tool room wall, had completely forgotten about that!

It sound like the engine clutch is sleeping, The too heavy load made issue in track stop slipped the clutch. If you have not real idea how to solve the problem , then search online what is procedure for the clutch pedal adjustment through your mobile or pc, if you have internet access. that will help you to find some idea.
