Deere 550H Dozer – How To Pull Axles

631G ยท 2024-07-26 11:25

We have basically been given a non-running but decent looking Deere 550H. But we cannot move it. Supposedly the engine out of time, but our mechanic we have helping us look into it says he thinks that the engine is yes definitely out of time, but also has no less than 4 bent push rods. Does anyone know the process to release the parking brake, transmission or any of the other steps required to move a disabled machine like this one? The finals are not outboard where you can easily pull the axles out and tug her around. I called the local Deere dealer but they no longer have technical advisers so I left a message with the shop foreman to see if he could help.

Bookstore Click the link above to get a free copy of the operator's manual, which will tell you how to tow it. It is section 2-2. Also, a porta power can be used instead of the gas method, just don't exceed charge pressure values (300 psi max, 200 psi would probably get the job done).

Got these parts they show ordered. Going to be interesting retrieving this machine. I can only hope that the seals are still intact or at least holding so we dont loose pressure while we work

If anyone ever has to release the park brakes on a burnt unit a trick i used was to tap the hose connection fitting at park brake to install a 1/8 grease fitting. Then filled a grease gun with oil along with a gauge in hose. As MG stated 200 psi will release the brakes' going over 300 may crack the park brake release piston.
