Defeated by Case 580c Right Brake oil leak

Thoughts or comments welcome. Just finished a complete brake system reinstall on a 1979 Case 580c Backhoe. New master cylinders, brake lines, slave cylinders, shoes and brake assembly, new oil seals ( including differential lock seal ), etc, etc. Oil seals installed correctly ( with splines wrapped with brass shim stock so as not to damage them when installing. And the right side still is leaking differential oil. What the heck gives? What a terrible design. I can't tell if its the main right brake carrier plate oil seal or the little differential seal without pulling the brake housing (guess that's the starting point) and possibly the carrier plate again... Ugh, ugh, ugh - this was an incredible amount of work to get to this point. I would really like to just get rid of the differential lock feature and seal it up. Assuming its the little differential seal, does anyone know a work around for this? It would be nice to be able to turn the right side into the equivalent of the left side of the machine - where the through hole is sealed with an expansion plug, but the cross shaft sticks out of the middle of the side gear assembly. Will know more in a day or two, after I pull the brake housing - again... Yuck. Any comments appreciated. Murray

Well, at least I can pull the right brake housing, and with the machine up on the stabilizers, put it in gear and carefully see where the leak is coming from. Decisions later....

I believe there is a breather for the crankcase on top somewhere? That is not clogged up is it?

Thanks for the tip. I just checked the breather and while dirty, it has good flow of air.

Discovered and fixed the oil leak. The large oil seal that fits into the carrier plate was just ever so slightly deformed. No pinched edge or lip, just a slight deformation from manually installing. The one on the left side is good (pressed in) and the new one for the right, also now evenly pressed in. Should have pressed the first one in (right side) from the start! Differential Lock oil seal is also nice and dry. Thanks for the input.
