Hello all, I have a John Deere 310J we use for plowing, long story short during the summer the backhoe didn't want to run over 1600-1700 RPM's, I checked all kinds of things and found the extend a hoe down about 6", after moving it back up everything seemed fine...it made full 2330 RPM's while driving. Well last night it happen again, after stacking some snow it wouldn't go over 1600-1700 rpm's while driving it home. Dealer is checking all kinds of things, other place is saying they replaced a switch of some type in a backhoe they worked on before for the extend a hoe. Is there such a switch because the dealer said he wasn't aware of any type of switch. TIA

Welcome to HEF Brian ! Serial number? Codes? Post if any whether active or stored (accessed through the monitor). Extendahoe pedal sticking? Does it start OK? Idle OK?

Had a senior John Deere mechanic look at it today. He checked every pressure there is on the backhoe, checked fuel injectors, convertor stall test etc. everything checked out fine. The other, newer guy they sent yesterday said he found some codes but nothing major, also it had "a ton of updates". There was never a service light or any codes pop up on the dash. After him checking everything he determined it must have had either dirt in the fuel or some gelling going on and could have had some wax left over in the lines (the guy who filled the tank did not put in any type of additive and it got down to well below freezing). Long story short after all his testing and driving it ran fine, he ran it up and down the road several times, had me do the same and runs fine now. Also there is no switch for the extend a hoe by the way. I also learned there are two fuel filters, I changed one the other night then the other one today (with the water separator) and again runs fine. I did see some small dirt particles in the bowl under that filter. He even took a camera and looked into the fuel tank and saw someone dropped a filler neck from a gas can down in there that was tight to the pick up tube. Fingers crossed it runs trouble free!

Your original description sounds like something binding in the hydraulics. My NH will stick in the return to dig sometimes and I have to manually push the stick to unstick it. When it does the pump labors and cuts power.
