Dirty Fun at an English Country House!

Just a few pics of a Pool de-silting Job I'm on at the moment. Don't really want to comment too much, as we just had to do the best with what we had got and It wasn't actually my job. The silt was supposed to be approximately 6" deep on top of a smooth hard clay floor. It was closer to 2ft average going to over 5ft in places! I was assumed the dumper would run accross the floor of the pool and it would be a simple job to clear it out. Funny how things turn out:beatsme, the Volvo wouldn't look at the pool and then we discovered the 'Bomb' holes someone had dug to allow the fish to go deeper. Some of these were around 12ft deep and big enough to lose the 312 in completely! but obviously now full of silt and invisible! It turned into a game of much Haymaking slop and feeling around for the craters! Having completed approximately a third of the pool utilising the field as a haul road, no more progress could be made. After a few calls for a large Tracked Dumper, the cost of hire was found to be very expensive so we constructed the shortest haul road we could and brought in a 313 Rubber Duck to just sit and load out of a sump hole. The rest of the clearing was absolutely mind numbing:Banghead with a cycle of throwing mud from one bomb hole to another to get it within reach of the Rubber duck. However we stuck to it, working well into the night each shift to keep pulling the mud back and eventually cleaned her out. Just got to go back now and re-shape the Island along with some trimming of the banks to finish it all off. The only bonus is you have got to admit it's a Beautiful House and a lovely place to be working at.

Finally a shots around the yard where I was helping out to get some Segments and Chains on a D5 before going back on the pool. As you can see this guy has seriously had the 'Cat Jab' given to him in Malaga!

Happy New Year Rob, and to everyone else of course! Just happy to take anything coming my way at the moment. Hope you are keeping the wheels turning. I've got one lousy pic of a Cat 318 Duck that decided to have a lie down Cab side whist still chained to a sheet pile. The guy was thrashing at it and stood her on her nose, only it spun sideways and slid into a previously backfilled pipe trench. From then on he watched it topple over from the comfort of his seat knowing he couldn't do anything about it as he was chained on. The door alone was £2000! besides the crane etc. Funny thing was it's a monster of a tool fitted with blade and stabilisers so I couldn't understand what he was playing at. If I work out how to get the pic from my phone onto here I'll show you.
