Dresser 175C – Opinions and Help On ID’ing the Age

631G ยท 2021-09-02 09:15

The owner picked up this track loader at an auction recently as part of a package deal. I ran it a little this morning at the shop to familiarize myself with the machine and beyond being unimaginably loud, it actually seems to be a straight little loader. Anyone have much time with these? Anyone able to help out with ID'ing the age etc.? SN: KTM0811-272-000-037

Not familiar with the above SN. Looks more like a contractor's ID number. Maybe for tracking inventory? 175C's SN begins with 429. Example: 4290004U004007. The last 4 digits would indicate it to be a 1985 model. SN will be attached to the firewall under the dash or the earlier models had the number attached to the seat. These machines were designed and manufactured in the early 60's by IH. Down through the years, they were continually updated and refined, becoming very reliable and bullet proof machines. Many of these machines (along with their sister TD15C) are still in service; however, not many on construction sites. Anyway, hope this helps.......

This is good info. the dealer says its a 1995 and they can still get parts for the unit though probably not over night.

My references show the machines were built till 2005 under the Dresser brand. The serial number starts at the letter designation U in the example. There was another designation as well. The Dresser line was taken over by Komatsu around 1993 or 1994 and then split off into the Dressta line today. I usually found factory stampings on the right side rear corner of the frame below where the fender mounts in the older machines.
