We are trying to rebuild the track adjuster in my 963 21z prefix. It appears someone has swapped roller frames over the years as my serial doesn't seem to bring up any of the correct parts. Our tractor has the large cylinder where grease is put in to push out the small rod on the idler which im told is the newer style verus what my serial number is which shows the older style similar to a d6c. Here is where we are so far: Broke Track and pullded idler and idler shaft out but after that Im lost as to what the best way to remove cylinder is any help would be appriciated
The illustration below is the latest for the 21Z machine (21Z3442-Up). Does yours look like that.? What is your machine S/N BTW.?
Here's the earlier version for comparison.
Take the track frame off remove the 2 1 1/2 bolts from the front bulk head remove the 4 1/2 bolts 3/4 head on the other side of bulk head get a 3/4 tap and clean out the 4 holes on the front of bulk head install 4 3/4 pusher bolts and remove bulkhead pull adjuster rod our and install new seals
It appears to be the top photo
The top one is the new style it has the big rod like 3 1/2 inches the old style is the small rod like 1 1/2 if you have the new style with the big rod you will not have to remove the track frame
The rod coming off yoke for idler is like 1.5 inch
That is the parts drawing for a later Serial Number of machine than yours, but if it works for you that's all you need. See attached.
Then you have the old style track frame has to come off
