Electrical problems Cat 320l

serial number 9kk2063. Was working machine and shut it down to run bulldozer for about 15 minutes. Got back on excavator and started it and remembered the buzzer did not sound when started it. Nothing showing on display monitor. Tried to shut it off and restart but key would cut off. Moved t about 40 yards to shop and climb up and raised engine cover and manually stopped engine. Turned key back on and buzzer would not sound. Have checked all relays and fuses in box. Traced output e/p controller 15 amp fuse to 184 blue wire to ecm. I do not have any lights on ecm. If I have 25 volts going to ecm bot no lights wondering may be missing ground from maybe key switch? Have checked and made sure it was not in backup mode accidentally.

Correction to original post. When turned key off would not shut down machine. Been tracing wires today. Still thinking maybe ground. Does anybody know where the cab grounding lug is located? It has 3 wires going to it. Hope it is not under sear.

Not a very good illustration but will give you an idea of the general area you should be looking on the RH side of the cab.

I have checked all hot wires to ecm. Wire 184 comes from fuse e/p controller. This wire believe get turns off in ecm somehow when u turn key off. It it did not get turned off in ecm it would drain batteries. Wire 308 yellow from key switch goes hot when key is turned on. This wire goes to ecm. Believe this wire wakes up ecm when turning key on. The monitor has 4 wires going to it two data wires (yellow and pink) and a orange hot wire and a black ground. These check good to ecm. I have everything I need to make green light come on ecm bit it does not. Is there anything in the monitor may need resetting to get green light on ecm? Is there maybe a fuse in ecm? The lights on ecm are no green light means no power, yellow light means no data, and red light means bad ecm. I just have no lights. Puzzled in Mississippi.

Hi.as per my knowlege i think you have to check several things. You should check that 184 wire i think its a blue wire, that always supply voltage for ecm & 308 yl wire which is the key sw line & ground wires for ecm. To check these things turn off the disconnect sw and disconnect the ecm connectors.(all above mentioned wires are inputs to the ecm) turn on the disconnect sw and check above mentioned wires from the connector end with a multimeter. 184 wire either start key on or off should provide 18-32v (measurement point is ground) 308yl wire should gives 18-32v when start key sw on.& 0v when off ( meas.point is ground) The black wires of this same connector are the ground wires for the ecm.so these wires should give 0v always (meas.point is ground) If these things are not with in the limits then it should be corrected. To iluminate the green light of the ecm and to stop the engine from the key sw these inputs should always be correct. According to my knowledge if i correct if these signals are ok then it seems that ecm it self has the problem.(probably there may be a problem in the circuit that connects the 184wire or 308wire or ground wires) I hope this will be helpful to you & hope you recover this quickly.
