Elevating Scrapers?(Paddle Pans)

dirtmoving21 ยท 2012-10-04 20:19

I see a lot of companies use elevating scrapers for good size cut on many projects. 615's and 862's are what most companies use around her, but I was wondering does anyone know if is profitable to do a good size job with these. It seems it would be cheaper up to a certain amount of yards? Thanks, Victor

Welcome to the forum dirtmoving21, I expect this thread will be moved to the scraper section. We run 2) 623's for dirt hauling and a 613 for clean up, they work well here. We have pretty good dirt and very few rocks ( they don't like rocks) We keep the cut ripped and run dropped center so they don't fight for a load. If the cut ripps up big hardpan chunks we'll spend the time to sweep the cut with the dozer to grind up the chunks, sometimes run over them with the tracks to break them up as they are hard on the speed reducers. Our jobs are normally 100K yards and under. Nothing moves dirt like open bowls and pushers but for us the 623's seem to be fine.
