how many of you out there install eljen and what do you think of it.
we are doing an eljen system at the moment. we have done many similar systems and i don't believe they are as complicated as some we have done. i will let you know how it goes. cd
ive been an eljen distributor/installer for 5 years and was wondering how well or not they are working in other parts of country . we have about 40 installations under our belt now and around 150 site consultations so if you have questions feel free to ask . the mistake i see the most is the wrong sand
I have installed many of these systems. Pros are easy to handle and a reduce field size compared to some other systems. Cons are the cost. I find it hard to swallow a $70 plus price tag for a 2' x 4' x 7" wadded up piece of plastic and fabric. In my area most are used in a pressurized serial distribution system which also usually includes either a siphon or the more expensive, and prone to fail at the most inoportune time, pump.
your lucky DGODGR ours is 3' / 4' / 7'' for 100$ each there called B43 module its the only one approved here so far
I've put some in up here and like the way they go in. Simple to work with, not so keen on where I sometimes have to install them. jr
Make sure the white dots are up!
I dont know much about septic systems but somebody was talking about useing the wrong sand. I am geting ready to install my own system for the house we are building and my trucker was telling me they have one pile of sand at the sand plant if you want fill sand its 5.30/ton and concrete and septic sand is 10.25/ton but it all comes from the same pile the only difference is the price. Now that makes a lot of sense.
as a general rule for the sand recommended by eljen if its manufactured by a crusher its the wrong sand . it typically comes from river dredging and around here cost about 20$ per ton . there are siftting size requirements but so far we dont have any quarries that can meet it and it really needs to be round granuels instead of sharp edged to prevent any compaction for example the right sand for eljen could be walked on or vibroplated and still be loose enough to scoop up by hand
Have you had any failures after installation. What do you think about installing in soil with a lot of clay? Thanks.
That is new to me. We use infiltrators here in FL.
Here's the er ah poop, on the system...
