How hard is it to make a cab enclosed and add heat. i found a couple skid steers but they don't have enclosed cabs and it get's chilly up here for about 6 months of the year.
Not that hard, just have to get some Plexiglass or glass in a frame, bolt on the ROPS and you're in business. Tap your radiator hoses and install a heater core and fan. Even something as simple as a faucet can be used to control water flow. Just make sure that you have air entering the cab from outside and a way for stale air to escape. It's a lot harder to air condition.
oh, ok i thought it was crazy hard.

I had after market side windows installed in my 246B. The front door could have been purchased from Cat and bolted on with the lock out switch. However the air-conditioning was a big expense even after-market. As luck would have it a new 248B with full cab, air-con and all the bells and whistles was offered to me for trade-in with the cost being less than the conversion so thats the way I went.
Siems makes an ok cab. If your still looking at CASE you can order a cab an heat after the fact on all machines (not cheap though). I am just South of you and a cab is a necessity.
Anyway you can actually use "hard" material to make your cab is the best. I helped a farmer out one winter a few years back and all he had for his bobcat was a canvas type cover that fit over the cab with plastic windows. The door wasn't much better. Not smooth and hard to keep clean, harder yet with cow manure on em. Didn't seal up so what heat you did get was lost quite quick. He never ran it much in the winter, had someone else to clean the freestalls out while he milked so never thought bout it much. Once he started doing it more it didn't take long to up grade his skid loader andget one with a factory cab and heat. Trbo
