I have an Isuzu NPR I use for a tool truck. I'm not sure if the exhaust brake is working properly. When should it be on? When you let off the pedal should it be on or do you have to touch the brakes? Should it stay on until you come to a complete stop or down to a certain rpm? Are there any adjustments to increase the braking power it seems like it doesn't do much. Thanks, Tim
As long as the light is on on the dash the brake is on. removing your foot from the axcelator (sp) peddle activates the brake. The brake works in high gear overdrive down to 29 mph. then it releases. in high gear with/out overdrive I think it is about 20 mph. Second gear it is about 10 mph before it releases. and log gear it is about 5 mph. To check to see if it is working run up to about 50 mph and let off the gas, let it coast and you should feel a serge (exaust brake releasing) at around 29 mph. if you feel a differance it is working. As far as I know there is no adjustment on it. Just the on and off switch on the lever on the right of the steering wheel. Dwan I know my spelling sucks but that is the way it is.

I am not impresed with the way mine works but it does make a bit of a differance. Most of my driving is in parking lots under 5 mph so it is realy not needed
