Engine shutdown.

Brandon Elias · 2024-06-21 14:43

Good day...im working on an 920 escavator. The machine has been giving starting problems as a result to a possible air lock.. my colleagues and I will bleed as we crank and the machine will eventually start.. But after running for an hour or so. The engine shuts down again. Requiring the procedure to start.. could it be electrical or mostly mechanical

If ur getting it to run by bleeding it.. I’d say u have a fuel SUPPLY problem.. If it has an in-line inj pump, look at the connector below the hand primer.. the banjo bolt will more than likely have a filter screen in it.. it unscrews from the bolt and can be blown off and reused.. Hope this helps.. Knowing what inj pump is on that engine will be a huge help.. It could be a supply problem or it might have a bad overflow valve, not holding pressure in the fuel gallery.. hence shutting the engine down.
