escape no power 279d?

subdural ยท 2024-10-04 06:47

SN: gtl0638 2014 279D. So if the unit went no power - but the bucket was raised in front of the door. what can i do to escape? (currently working on a fuel issue, and will do some test runs today, but have a fear it will stall out). Is there a way to use things inside the cab, buttons or controls to allow the bucket to go back to earth? i did a test and unlike some of the other cat machines i have where i can turn them off with stick in the air, then just adjust the control lever and pressure leaves the system. it seems my cat 279D locks the hydro in place somehow.

simply removing the door would solve the problem on hand..... or hunt for the emergency loader lower knob/lever

ya, thats what i was wondering about in the cab. some type of pressure relief knob. i feel if i take the emergency stuff out, ill never get it back the way it was.

It sounds as though you really need an Operation & Maintenance Manual, especially if you are doing all your own maintenance. Search online for Caterpillar Publication reference SEBU9084. Here is a link to a new genuine OEM one on eBay . There is a handle you can pull that releases the pressure in the lift hydraulics and allows the bucket to come down slowly by gravity. Here's the location.

i did get both the books. 400-500 bucks, so i have all the maintenance stuff lined up for the hours on the machines. i use the parts book, but found the sis system in cat to work well too. appreciate the info on the handle, gonna test that while seeing if fuel system works. Nige, thank you for all the info - you have moved things along at a fast pace. this isnt my profession just a hobby and while i like the challenges - wife gonna kill me for the smell of diesel in the house already! lol.. ty so much for the images and the info.

You mean to say you don't have a bucket of diesel in the kitchen for washing your hands.? lightweight....... The illustration on came from the O&M Manual. Best I can suggest is to pull up the handle before starting the engine, then check to see if the arms will lift. If they won't that confirms the system is working as it should. Stop the engine, push down the handle, and carry on.
