Its always warm in the winter on a terex or euclid. The hydraulics took up alot of room on the "hard nose".thats all I can figure.

We ran 3 Euclid/Terex dozers in the fleet - 2 x 82-30's and an 82-40. The radiator fan was driven by an extension shaft off the back of the engine (belt driven) and designed to be less prone to clogging or damage from sticks & twigs in this position. The 83-30's were a good honest tool and excelled at ripping. I didn't care too much for the 82-40 though and our example wasn't a particularly reliable tractor either. Our 82-30's were built in the USA and the 82-40 was a British built unit. We used those machines for all sorts of earthworks but the 82-30's primarily for ripping. They would out-rip a Cat D8H and match our IH TD-25C (all pulling 2 shanks) The vertical lift cylinder on the blade was a bit of a pain when push loading scrapers and we tended to push slightly off center so we had a better view of the scraper. Never seemed to do the tractors any harm. The transmissions were bullet-proof - we never had any trouble with them or the finals. Our 82-40 had more than its fair share of engine & electrical system hassles and we eventually traded it in on a new Terex TS-18
