Got no dr.ex to pull codes or wiring schematics for this circuit, any one got any info or alternate way to pull codes? Would appreciate any info on this problem. Also the a/c heater control panel is stuck in full heat, full speed on blower motor i suspect the control head faulty but not sure if codes are retrievable from this as well ? Thanks..
A thumb is not a factory installed item, it is installed later and everyone does it a little different. So there are no electrical schematics available unless the person who installed it has one. There would be no codes available for that or for the heater control. My suggestion for the thumb would be to locate the electrically operated solenoid valve that operates the thumb hydraulic circuit (usually a DO3 valve) and find out if there is 24volts there. In my experience it is usually a broken wire, often in the control handle itself. The valve could be located in several places, check inside both rear side doors or around the control valve. Hope this helps and let us know what you find.
Thanks for reply excavator..had the joystick apart and ohm out the switches there ok.i thought they were inputs to computer? should they have 24 volts at switches or do they use relays to supply power to solenoids (d03) valve ?
I've seen many different ways that they are wired but the important thing is that there is 24 volts at the solenoids.
thanks for the help, this one was a broken wire in the loom to the solenoid intermittent connection impossible to see found it with a helper and wiggle test..
Ok stupid question is the thumb direct plumbed or quick coupled? Our wrist had a coupler push apart just enough to hydro lock but not enough to separate.
That's a problem you can encounter with old and worn couplers. They are basically a pair of check valves facing each other and rely on precise contact to open them selves and allow oil to flow. The most common problem is the lock balls wearing into their seating groove and not always holding the halves together. This is a sometimes works sometimes doesn't work problem in both directions. The other thing is a spring locking ring breaking or getting out of place. That will reduce the spring force on one of the valves and it not being able to open the mating check valve. This will only block flow in one direction, flow towards the weak spring side, flow from the weak spring side will force the mating valve open. Later Bob
