help me help a friend. got a 2023 Kobelco sk140srlc-7 yy09052163 that my buddy picked up at auction. long story short, it had water up to the bottom of the operator's seat. the engine, hydraulics, fuel system are all fine. we've already replaced any electrical components from the engine and starting system. he doesn't care about any luxuries like hvac or radio. we replaced the relay box and i have experience in rebuilding automotive wiring harnesses so that is all good to go. none of that is an issue and i know it is going to be very hard for some of you to do, but this friend is dead set on getting this thing running. i have already suggested parting it out; he's not interested so, save it. why i am here: the controllers. it would appear that only the hydraulics (mencharto?) controller got wet and needs replaced. if i was interested in buying one from kobelco i wouldn't be here so, save it. i need to know all the possibilities here. i've hacked car modules before so, nothing is off limits. 1. are these control boxes in this machine VIN coded like the auto industry? 2. how universal are they; what would be needed to [re]program it?
also, does anyone have the WSM?
I would say on a machine this new, unless you know a software engineer at Kobelco, you are not going to have much luck making anything work. These new machines so micromanaged by computers it's not as simple as on/off. Pilot pressures, pump pressures, swash plate angle, the list goes on and on. Wish you the best.
I think we are going to see a flood of flooded machines flood the market in the SE, soon. And shipped to unsuspecting areas. Buyer beware.
this one actually went too deep in a creek.
i figured as much. but are the controllers coded to the machine itself or a central module? i read about others replacing their controllers and programming with a handy tool. this would mean it is not coded to the chassis and would also imply that it is used across many models and years. but does this still work on the latest gen machines? what kind of protocols are used in these? can-bus? lin-bus? MOST? what are the options for china clone scanners/programmers/dealer diagnostic tools out there? is there anyone on this forum that has a good technical understanding of these machines? where the Nerds at lol. i REALLY need to get my hands on the WSM. i'll pay.
