Fl106 frieghtliner opinions and questions

Looking at a mid 90s fl106 single axle with a series 50 Detroit and a 9spd, as far as I know it's just what I'm looking for, I'm a big fan of detroits, never owned a s50 but have had severel s60's and older detroits. This truck was owned by a fire department and has less than 100k original miles, has a 5th wheel on it now. Has new steer tires on aluminum wheels and drives are decent. Not sure which 9spd it has, but it's a little hard to get in gear, is there any adjustment in the clutch? I would be using it to pull a gooseneck gross weight would never be over 36,000. Any opinions on the truck, engine, clutch situation or anything else would be greatly appreciated, thank ya'll very much!

Sounds like a pretty slick unit. Yes the clutch should be adjustable. Sounds like maybe the clutch brake is gone or wore out. Not hard to handle. Any halfway competent truck shop should be able to adjust it in 15 minutes. It is possible it's wore out. They don't normally wear out that quick but all the short drives it made and if that FD was like ours most of them can't drive very good haha. How much free travel does clutch pedal have? As you come up off the floor where does it begin to grab? Low, high, middle? Does it go into gear easier when it's cold and the oil is thick? Let us know and we can tell you where to look.
