Have a cute little six wheeler dump truck, want to do a full underneath fluid change. Figure its been a couple years as a plow truck and it gets run lightly so moisture is more of a concern than over use. What's the approximate number of gallons for the transmission 5spd, rear axle and engine? Won't need synthetic as it only gets half a dozen hours a month of operation. Figure I'd ask here and well, my backup is the local international dealer. is 80w90 good gear/trans fluid, it might be a little thin for over the road trucks but again, this is a grounds truck, no more than a mile in a straight line. Thanks in advance! -J
We run 50 weight oil in our trans and 75w90 or 80w90 in our rears. I cant say how much for the trans, but if it is a full size rear end it will take in the area of 4-5 gallons.
Thanks a bunch, again, if this truck gets out of 3rd its only when the rear is in low Spicer seems to suggest about 3.5 gallons for a typical 5 speed and 5 gallons for the rear plus or minus half a gallon. Just getting an idea of how much to buy. is the trans smoother with 50wt?
