Pulled the air inlet line to get at the servo pump, stuck my nose in turbo and found that some FOD had gotten in there and ruined the compressor. Pulled it apart and could get away with a new compressor wheel, bearing kit and balance but it appears that price comes to 1/2 that of a new CHRA. And, I need to send out for balance because there is nobody around here doing that so maybe a new CHRA and be done with it. Looking online I only find one place that list an actual Garrett CHRA @ $425. Not too bad I guess if they can actually get it. Waiting to hear back on that. Whole new turbo prices at $1600 plus and that just isn't in the budget. Would convert to Holset if the $ work out. Anybody know a good Garrett distributor or to work with? Or recommend a good place for balancing ? For reference, in case you have one on shelf : Turbo #452174-0004, this is a GT4288N, crosses to 452174-0003 etc. CHRA - 434251-0014 (new) or 434251-5014s (rebuilt) Application - Volvo TD103 KAE Thanks for any input.
