A long time employee of the company I work for (41 years) drove up from Medicine Hat and thanked us for all the help our group has been over the years. We're done at the end of the month. I heard him talking about an old tractor with a couple other guys and had to see what it was about. His name is Ted Sherring and he is the owner of the oldest, most original restored Rumely 25-45 model B Oil Pull in the world. He said there is only 29 of them left in the world. His is the 125th one built. It is best of the best. The only older one is a 1910 prototype. He might sell it if the offer was 1 mil! Someone asked him once and said it seemed high. His response, you can't get another one. He restored it with his dad. Totally awesome!!! It's a twin cylinder and he said the pistons were 9 or 9 1/2" in diameter with a 12" stroke. It has one speed, 1.3 MPH. He said when it was new it was $2800.00 so pretty pricey for 1911. He had some great pictures on his tablet but not too many of it on the internet. It's stunning! http://news.calgarystampede.com/rel...ry-old-rumely-highlights-vintage-tractor-bash
A 1929 model X 15-30 that sold locally at auction in 2013
First and only time I saw or heard of a Rumley was when first wife and I were on a vacation in southern Ohio. She wanted to stop at some old time hardware store she had read about in Kidron Ohio. When we pulled up there was this old tractor sitting out front. While walking around this store that has all kinds of things strongly aimed at the Amish in the area like full sized gas powered refrigerators and brand new wood stoves happened to hear some guy talking to an old guy about the tractor out front. The one guy asked if it still ran and the old guy said sure want to hear it run! So of course I followed right along! Well sure enough It started, just like an old motorcycle a few kick on the starter, AKA flywheel spokes! Found a video online not sure if it willl post here: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10154459357269500 Have a feeling OSHA or MSHA might object to the starting procedure! Note on the Facebook page says it was posted 3 years ago and Jay, the owner of the store and tractor, was 87 years old at that time.
FYI, The Rumley Oil-Pull was built in La Porte Indiana (not far from me). I believe there is a group that has a Rumley show in La Porte every year. Maybe a Google search could give a good idea?
Allis Chalmers bought out Rumely, in 1930.
The flywheel to kick start it weighs 1500lbs.
