Hello I've got a ford 4500 that needs a loader bucket curl cylinder repacked. I am having trouble get the large gland nut on the cylinder off. Even with heat and a large pipe wrench. Any tips? Am I missing something that is locking it in place?
yeah check for set screws. Otherwise an air hammer is your best bet
I put a 4' pipe on a large pipe wrench for the ones I don't have a proper wrench for.
do you have your new seal kit if so check to see it has metal strip with it,,,if so the existing metal strip has to roll out the gland nut if that the case use neatle nose to pull on strip as turning gland nut GOOD LUCK
