I have an opportunity to purchase a very well cared for 455c. Has about 2500 hours has always been stored inside. Machine is tight and runs and looks great. I would be paying $8800. Can anyone tell me the good and bad about this machine. Thank you in advance
Ford built good hoes; but when you're talking about a 30 year old machine, it's more important what the individual previous owners did to maintain or abuse it. Run it for at least an hour, get it good and hot. Hopefully you'll have someplace that you can dig and move some dirt with the front bucket. You want to work the transmission and shuttle reverse. If you scroll thru the posts here, you'll see a lot of them are about the trans and shuttle not working. And those are expensive bits to repair. Look for weld beads on the front loader bucket and arms, and the same on the hoe. Hoes with a lot of time and hard work are the ones with yards of weld bead on them. The price doesn't sound too high if the machine is as good as you describe.
