Just got a Galion 104h-b and need to top off the hydraulic system. The oil in it now is red and smells of ATF but is thicker than the ATF that I am familiar with. The clutch housing has the same oil. The oil is clean and I don't want to change it at this time. The previous owner does not know what oil since he never added any. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
popo, we have a galion T600b we run 68 grade hyd oil and top up with engine oil in a pinch, the tranny runs on ordinary atf i would advise checking your filter screen in the bottom of thetranny as weell as the filter, to see if it is sludgy, just drain it into clean drums so you can reuse it if its ok its important to change the hyd filter too, or you can damage the pump when it sucks the filters ass out(its cheaper to buy filters and oil than pumps, and clutches) regards Goodwin
