Gehl 3825sx – No bucket or boom control

Diesel40B · 2025-06-02 13:11

Hi all, I'm having some issues with my Gehl 3825sx. The bucket and boom control is no longer functioning and when applied kills the engine. There are no issues with it moving, that seems to work fine. Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Could this be problems with the solenoid, relay, wiring, or hydraulic filter? Thanks.

Would be an issue with your main aux interlock. Check power to the solenoid first. You will need to have your seat switch bypassed and lap bar down when doing this. If you have power then the solenoid has failed.

Update: Checked the safety switches, fuses and examined as much of the wiring as i could. Everything looked good. Identified the two solenoids for the lift and tilt. Measured the resistance at 7.5-8 ohms. I ended up turning the tilt solenoid to the right maybe 40 degrees which seemed to tighten it up. Didn't tighten the nut. Started it up and tilt worked but lift didn't. Lift solenoid was in engine compartment. Did the same turn with it and started it up and lift worked. This was with it in the garage, cage up and no attachment. Hopefully this week I'll get it outside and exercise it some. Here's a picture after I turned the solenoid that you can compare with the picture above. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks JBDiesel. Not sure if this has fixed the issue or if it’s temporary. Could both solenoids be failing at the same time? Do the solenoids need to be torqued down tight. This week I’ll get it outside.

Just snugged up is all they need to be. Not sure how loose they were exactly but they will usually work just fine even without the locking nut on them and free rotating. So it may have just been a wiring connection issue with them and when you had the wires off to test them, it fixed the issue. Unlikely that both are failing at the same time. Also possible if the machine sits a lot that the spool in the solenoid valve is sticking. Moisture is a bit factor on these older machines that sit a lot.

Also could have a bit of rust on the spool stem. That and maybe they were loose and touring them caused a better magnetic contact with the stem.
