What do I need to update my 1980's Gehl 4500 to allow me to use the standardized attachments? I have a 4500 with a 72" bucket. I would like to be able to attach some of my 3 pt tractor attachments to my skid steer and or be able to go out and rent an attachment etc. Could someone point me in the right direction to look? What is the name and or terminology for the attachment system that I have now? That might help me in my search. Thanks for any help, it is appreciated. K
Gehl Mount Nightmare Krizzle, welcome to the world of pre-universal mounts -- every manufacturer did their own thing and Gehl seemed to change the mount everytime they changed the model. Berlon Industries sells mounts and whatnot -- unfortunately, if you make and use an adapter (xx00 mount & universal machine side), it changes the geometry and reduces your lift / tip capacity as well as tweaking how high a truck you can load. They show all the different Gehl mounts on http://berlon.com/mgehl.php A better plan might be to get the universal machine side mount (MPQT-U) and weld it in place of the original mount -- see http://berlon.com/muniversal.php -- my local Gehl dealer was on top of adapting older models to universal, but the xx00 series might be too old for them to be much help. For your 3-point stuff, you can get a universal base plate (which you'll need at least one of to modify your existing bucket) and make something like http://berlon.com/3pt.php or check out http://www.skidsteersolutions.com/Skid_Steer_Universal_Mount_s/31.htm for ideas. You don't say if you are in Lower MI or the UP -- if the UP, check out http://www.qualityweldingservice.com/mountingplates.html for plates, they're in Suamico. Good luck!
