Need some help on a problem with my S-40 Genielift. Its a 1997 2wd with dual fuel ford LRG423 carbureted engine. When I try to drive either way it acts like it has no hydraulic power, the engine pulls down slightly but the tires barely move. I have to cycle through forward and reverse a couple times and it will finally go with full power/speed. Sometimes if I push the drive lever and hold it there it will barely creep along for a few seconds and then suddenly it will take off driving normally kind of like it slams into gear all of a sudden. If anybody has any advice it would be appreciated.
Welcome to the forum GeorgeW. :usa You need to go to the Genie website and download parts and service manuals for your machine. The service manual has a pretty good troubleshooting section for testing the drive system components and contains the electrical schematics as well. One of the first things you'll see in the troubleshooting chart is something like "start engine, stand clear of the tires, and momentarily move the pump override lever". That's a small black lever on the electronic pump controller of the drive pump. Moving this lever in either direction will stroke the pump for drive output and try to make the machine move. If that works proper, then follow remaining tests in the troubleshooting chart. http://gogenielift.com/
i have a older circa 1994 genie s40 lsg423 carburated engine it runs for 5 seconds then shuts off. we have done everything the manual says to do and cant get it to stay running anybody have any suggestions
That sounds like a safety cut out for the engine. Maybe possibly the temp sensor or oil pressure sensor? Might check those out...... Also if it has the breakers below the ground controls you might try to jump across those and see what happens.
i will trt your suggestions thank you very much
