I have a z45 dual fuel unit. Unit was diagnosed with a bad ECM, new ECM installed and unit will not crank. Found a short to ground somewhere in the APU circuit. Now unit cranks and will run on starting fluid, fuel pump will not pump. If 12v is directly on fuel pump it kicks on. Unit will still crank no start. No spark from a spark tester but will run on ether. Has anyone had this problem or can lead me in a direction to narrow down somethings. every circuit was checked between ECM and engine harness. Ground and power is there engine cranks but will not start.
Serial number? Usually the controller activates a relay for the fuel pump. Is the relay working? Does it run on propane?
Serial is z452508A-36717. Relay in the fuse block is good was tested. Unit is blocked off for propane. Only gasoline. Relay in the lower control box was removed for APU. Unit now cranks but still doesn’t start am still getting no spark. As per another forum ECM will not send spark unless CPS is working. Don’t know how true that is
Is the relay sending power to the fuel pump when the key is in the on position? As for the no spark are you using an inline tester?
No, I checked coil packs key on for voltage, no voltage at the coil pack. Checked fuse block for power and have no power to fuel pump relay, no power going to any of my fuses/relays in fuse block. Could it be a bad engine harness?
Relay is not sending power to the fuel pump, hooked up a direct 12v to the fuel pump and it works so I deemed the fuel pump is functioning. Yes for checking spark am using a in line tester
Today I made some progress, put new ends on battery cables and APU battery cables. Have got 12v to the fuse box, fuel pump turns on when key is on. Still no volts at coil packs and no spark. Unit will also not crank from lower control box
