Have there been any good discussions on GET? who makes the best teeth? Which styles are most economic? Can you find jobber teeth for your style? How often do you change teeth? Which profile works best for you application? those type of questions.

as a bump i will share some of my experience. for a while i was very fond of the komatsu k series or the hensley x series tooth. i would use either standard profile or tiger teeth. these teeth were very easy to change and when i was involved in a davis bacon job i didn't want to pay the huge wages for a lot of down time to change teeth out. the down side was they still had patents on them and no jobbers were making the teeth so they were extremely expensive. i later ended up with a bucket that had esco super v teeth on them. i found them to be a little less costly but a little more time consuming to change. my next bucket also had the same size esco so i started to lean that direction so i wouldn't have to have as much inventory on hand. later on a salesman asked my to try the esco sdx profile tooth and i found that they lasted much longer then the standard syl so i have been using those. now i am almost completely esco, but i still hate spending $500+ every two weeks on teeth so i am wondering if there are other options out there?

What are you doing to be changing teeth every two weeks?

Maybe that's every two weeks for all the teeth in the fleet, not on only one machine????

we could easily go through a set of teeth on one machine in two weeks when we were using just SYL's or duck bill type teeth. maybe three weeks on the outside but sometimes less. the SDX profile seems to last a bit longer. we put new teeth on and flip the corners in about three days. then we just keep rotating and flipping until the corners are all gone and teeth are blunt. out goal footage is about 200 feet per hour or 2000 feet in a ten hour shift. GET gets pretty expensive, that's why i am picking everyone's brain to find out if there is a better solution. i have a set of six V39SDX that will get replaced at the end of the week that will have about six miles on them. I have another set of V43SYL that will get replaced in about ten days that will have about four weeks on them. This is the first time i have had the bigger V43 adapters and it looks like that tooth has more meat and will last about 25% longer.

splatter some hard surface wire on the teeth edge/corners before you put them on.
