First id like to say im new to this field, only a couple of years working on equipment. Started at Volvo Rents working on everything but now i work for C.N.E. working on aerial equipment. Found this site while looking for answers on some previous problems and found that the advice i followed was sound. So i would like to thank everybody for giving out their knowledge and experiences as it is hard to find knowledgeable people who are willing to share anything. I will tell of my latest experience as it may save some people alot of money.. I was working on a JLG boom 400 s that had a deutz F3M 1011 F powerplant. The unit would start easy, idle fine and run up to max RPM ok with minimal smoke, but as soon as a load was applied it smoked like a forest fire and bogged down to almost a stall. Not enough torque to open a pop can. My company out-sourced this call to a third party mech. who said it was the injectors and pump that were faulty. Cost was approx 5000.00 parts and labour. When the unit came back, after i had been going through this forum i wanted to check some things first. Checked air filter and everything assiciated with air intake. ok.. Removed muffler and checked the exhaust ports for moisture. ok. Ran unit without exhaust, same thing.. Looked at injectors and holy crap like someone here said, they were put in backwards last year when the head was done. Turned them around and machine runs perfect. No smoke all power. Just wanted to say thanks for the help. Hopefully this will save somebody alot of money.. As for the orentation of the injectors on this unit. The fuel return spout is almost touching the valve cover. A little tight but it fits. This also allows the fuel return lines to sit in their intended holders, not hanging out over the motor. Again thanks.
