Helping a friend who is trying to figure this out. I understand that we need to extend the main boom extension, pull the pin on the non powered boom section, afix the non powered boom using the swing out extension and retract the main powered extension, but the office has lost the manual, and its not obvious( least to us) on how or where to attach the swing arm to the main boom before retracting, if this is infact the procedure, was hoping someone here could help before we go and buy a $200 manual on a machine that there getting rid of. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. John

You don't use the swing away to lock the boom. You actually extend the inner boom section about 3' and that exposes a hole in the boom, there's a small jack inside there that locks the tip to the inner section. Should be a handle for turning the lock bolt that latches the two together. I'll make a copy of the procedure from the manual tomorrow. There should be a metal plate on the inside of the operators cab, usually by your left shoulder, that explains it also.
