Company I work for has a 9000E . The 9000E is a different story . Boss bought it because he thought he needed something between the 120 ton Grove and the 55 Grove , both of those are AT's.Said he couldn't find anything new at that time but the 9000 As a matter of fact the rest of the hydros are all terrains (AT) or rough terrains (RT) and that is one problem . The AT's spoiled us , This machine will not jump off in the dirt like we were used to . Its been stuck more than any Rig they have. The counterweight set up is screwy,You need the book open to put the weights on it the 1st few times . I didn't see the weights for that one on it but the the weights sit on the back of the machine and the center of the dolly. Its a pick and choose deal from the dolly and the back of the crane that you need a score card to get in the right order. Also it has 5 weights that do no stay with it and need to be hauled separate that are smallish and are a pain to handle . Also I don't remember what they did to fix it but when removing the counterweights once , the top slab hung up ! The op swung around and froze when he saw the stack . He swung back around and started looking and nothing but being bound up was holding the weight up . Never trusted it since. Swapped 4 alternators under warranty. It has had suspension trouble under warranty. We had the alignment redone. As a comparison,We can put the 200 ton demag together in less time than you can the 9000e . If you can keep it on good ground its ok but our work is rarely on pavement. Also I am a driver so i'm sure i'm leaving something out.The machine seems to be ok after its setup but getting there is a pain.
Actually Tiny After running the 900E ..9000 isnt at all that much different..it does require some extra's ,has its issues..but once your on it its a sweet crane ,quite solid .. The counter weights..yes ..we learned that a slight left and right swing while a glance over the shoulder was in order every time ..the proximty switches sometimes went out of whack ..and again the computer is just an aid We were rarly on the pavement either..just had the customer to sign on when we entered a less than desirable site Biggest thing is its new, unfamiliar,in places a little more invovled than any other unit.. if your like me you just dont automaticly put faith in a new to me piece of equipment.. by the time your in ..you'll be able to set that up in under 45min with full jib.. My biggest whine ...9/16 hoist rope like *** is up with that ..in the case of the 900E anyway
