long stick it, reach will be more usefull than power in that size class.

It depends what you plan to use it for the most. If you are planning to use it mostly for demolition, the reach is important. If you are going to do mostly clearing, you can almost always drive a foot closer to the stump, but the extra power is nice.

extra power? extra power from what? the long stick or short? the hp and hydro pump are identical.

ftp its called leverage the long stick has less than the short stick.soooo if you want power go with short and if you want reach go with long

The short stick will have more crowd force (stick breakout force) then the long stick. Also, a progressive link thumb, pin grabber, and long stick pretty much require add-on counterweight to keep the tracks on the ground. At least that was my experience with a Deere 160. Most 135 and 160 long sticks are about the same length giving you the reach of a standard 200, but a 160 is a much more stable platform to begin with. With most manufacturers the long stick is standard on 160's and optional on 135's. The short stick would be my choice, unless you need the extra reach. If a large portion of your work is digging basements, demolition, or utilities, then consider getting the long stick. Otherwise, the short stick will make for a more powerful and stable excavator.:drinkup
