Just got an old (very old) volvo 860s (1979) for drawing clay around the farm for very small money. But problem is i am not sure how to drive it. Its the gears i don't know if i am in the high box or low box. There is a big lever to shuttle forward and reverse. It goes 2 notches forward and 2 back but its got 4 gears forward and 4 back. On top of that lever is a second shiny small lever with i think 4 positions. When the shiny lever is pulled back it seems to be in 4wd. It seems to do about 8 mph flat out so i reckon i am in the low box. Also how do you drive these in soft conditions the damn tyres are so stiff all she wants to do is get stuck
do a search for a site called www.mask insten.net and ask there, they do read and write english and have excellent knowledge of these old volvos
