Help! Terex S24 Hydraulic Over Heating

Dirtdozer ยท 2011-09-23 11:08

This machine did sit for some time. The oil seems to be a little milky. When you first start up and run for 45 minutes to a hour the hydraulic system starts getting weak and tight. The tank gets fire hot. We have changed the pump, and used additives to cool it down. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

How did you go with this problem, same thing happened to one of my ones and found a rag sucked into one of the hydraulic pipes. That fixed it.Good Luck Kerry.

heat in hydraulic systems "Fire hot" is out of the norm. For the most part hydraulic energy does one of two things-it either does work or converts to heat so it would seem you have a lot of wasted energy, probably going over a relief valve. I would find a schematic and troubleshoot from it or hire a capable mechanic to do so. It doesn't take a lot of wasted energy to heat up a tank on mobile equipment. 1gpm @ 1500 psi is 1 horsepower, 1 horsepower is around 2600 BTUs Good luck, Tom

Could be relief valve. Could be hyd cooler plugged up with leaves and dirt and other stuff....Have you changed filters?
