Help to add laser leveling to CAT 160H

amirmageed · 2016-02-03 06:14

hello this is my first post here i have done adding a good laser leveling system to volvo G730b ( adding two solenoid valves to control the blade left and right . my current laser leveling system is very simple two receivers and control box which is controls the solenoid valves now i have a new job, adding the same system to CAT 160H, so i'm asking did cat 160H have an electric valves in it's blade control so i can just connect my wires to control the blade ??? or i have to use my volvo scenario ( adding two solenoid valves to control the blade). i know there is a grading systems work with the machine ECU using CAN with very advanced option like slope detect GPS etc ... but here in my country we are looking for a cheap solution to simple land leveling. here some photos of my volvo which is working very smoothly and perfect:

It will all depend on what model of 160H you have - there are several different ones. Post a Serial Number for more accurate information.

Thank you Nige for fast replay unfortunately the 160H is not near me right now,,, i will try to get it... but seems it's not have wires to the main control i have this pic:

Mechanically-controlled implement valves, just the same as your Volvo.

Thanks again Nige,,, i will start to prepare Hydraulic hoses and fittings and valves

Dears I want to attach my proportional valve to the 160H , My plan is use hoses that comes to the (left Valve GP) it's part No: 6E-3038 VALVE GP-BANK 4 and i will add a shuttle valve to the load- sense line .. i searched online but i could not find where the load sense hose location in left GP control So any one can confirm this : 1- Pressure Line 2- Return ( Tank) 3- Load Sensing much appreciated your advice... PS: i figure the above inf from this link https://avspare.com/catalog/cat/sebp2491/sebp24910585/ ( not same part put looks the same principle ) ointhead

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I think the signal pressure (load sense) line is the small one running behind lines 1 & 2 in the photo. You can identify it by tracing it to the combination valve where it will tee with a similar line from the RH valve bank. Incidentally, that picture is of a 5 bank valve, not a 4. Arrow 2 is pointing to one of the lines to the cylinder, in this case the ripper cylinder. The blade lift will be the next valve along.

Yes you are 100% right i just found it ( the load sense location) and it's better to install the shuttle near the pump Thanks Cmark

UPDATE: we plan to use MOBA block which is proportional Valve not like the (ON-OFF) valve used in volvo, we figure the correct hoses location with help of Mr. Erik from MOBA ( really appreciated his kind support And his advises and patience to answer all the technical questions )... i will post photos when we get the system installed

Update : we finish installation of the Proportional Valve and regarding the image above: 1 is pressure line and 2 is the Tank (return) line it didn't work and after checking we found that something block the oil to go back to tank ( when we test with all hoses connected we can not move the blade , example when i want to raise the blade up from the control i feel the load on the grader engine but the blade starts to move up then stops,, ) when i removed the tank line and from the proportional valve ( and let it drain out - the blade moves ok) the question is why line 2 (Tank)is blocking the oil to go back to tank

Trimble/AccuGrade hi dear all! i suggest you to contact with your local CAT dealer or with SITECH company. SITECH is world dealer of Trimble for machine control systems. Also i suggest to use Trimble because CAT and Trimble have agreement on factory preparation on Trimble systems. CAT gradeк prepared in factory on Trimble system have ARO (AccuGrade Ready Option). It means grader already have prepared hydraulic, hardware, places for brackets ans sensors.
