Help with my first new to me D8K

Hey guys I've recently purchased a used D8k dozer to help out with my farm drainage business. The dozer was sold to me with a not working carco j120 winch. We first found that the winch had no oil and that the control cables have been cut off below the control and brake lever, so we added oil and rigged up a temporary control. Next we found that the sun gear that drives winch was not turning with engine running, we removed winch and found that the female splined drive shaft is missing. Apparently no longer available from manufacturer........ any good ideas were a person could find one? also looking for root rake for same unit. Thanks

Check with Portland Tractor in Portland Oregon, timber country there. No oil and no drive shaft doesn't sound good though.

you will find you,ll need a winch pump, lines and filter too if its a J120. Later models 120 had self contained hydraulics for the winch. fact that it had no oil and no driveshaft could mean clutchs are toast. if it were mine would be checking clutch shaft and pinion brgs too.

I appreciate any words of knowledge, insight, and tricks of the trade on this machine as it is my own first dozer. I haven't checked the exact mfg year of this dozer but I'm guessing it might be a year or two older than me. Finally got to put it to work stripping topsoil the other night seems to work ok so far.

Haven't got drive shaft installed, not sure if this is good or bad sign used winch cable to pull dump truck out the other day. should winch have free spooled? or would brake mostlikely be siezed on from lack of oil? winch did not turn.

brake is locked on by a big spring bron. It needs oil pressure from the winch hydraulics to release brake and engage clutchs. Out of curoisty winch should have a small brass tag on top rh case, or maybe elsewhere. should say carco winch model J120ps then numbers. if it says J120sg then this winch was meant for a gear drive D8K Also is there any pipe fittings coming out of top case of winch that look like hyd pipes came off them ? pics would help too.
