The last standing of the 500 houses we were wrecking, now we will fall back and remove the foundations, then the sidewalks curb and gutters then the asphalt paving and were done. This job has been a real blessing for an owner operator like myself. We started in November and should rap up in mid April.
Why are all the houses being removed? if you don't mind me asking
that looks like fun!
Its old base housing at Travis AFB, many of the houses were damaged by fire and all had way to much asbestos, and dry rot type problems as most were built in the 40s and 50s. So we are clearing them out so than they can rebuild new base housing. 25yrs ago it seemed fun, now a days its just another job. But make no mistake, I am dam glad to have it!
was that a pc 300? my uncle has been working on our fort tearing down the old barracks, manly because they are wanting to build more modern styles houses :beatsme
Hopefully not opening up a can of worms here, ................. do/did you have to do a seperate asbestos strip or is it done by others.
Yes it is, it belongs to another owner operator friend of mine. We have 3 excavators working on the site, my CAT330L his PC300 and a Linkbelt330. This job is taking place in Fairfield California. Rob, Yes through out the entire job we were working behind an abatement outfitt. Thats why in the picture of the last house you see its just tar paper because they had removed the siding.
Looks like fun! We recently did something similar on the Dover AFB a few years ago, and my understanding was that part of it was due to asbestos and also after 50 years, the houses would be considered "historic" and I guess it would be cheaper to tear down and rebuild them, then to renovate them at 51 years. Course I don't know how much fact was in that:beatsme
:thumbsup just wondered if it was treated the same over there as it is here.
